COMMITTEES

Please note:  The following criteria for the nomination of a member to serve on a committee is applicable:

  • The candidate must be an active member of the Chapter.
  • The candidate must consent to serve in the position.

LEADERSHIP SUCCESSION COMMITTEE

The aim of the Leadership Succession Committee is to develop members in organizational leadership roles across the span of their career.  This committee also mentors members to assume organizational Board and Officer positions at all levels of the organization.

This committee consists of four elected members:

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CHAIR:*

  • Develop members in organizational leadership roles across the span of their careers.
  • Mentor members to assume positions at all levels of the organization.
  • Oversee the selection of well-qualified members who can provide the necessary leadership to achieve Chapter goals and to meet the needs of members.
  • Oversee the preparation, distribution and tallying of election ballots.
  • Notify all candidates (elected and non-elected) of the election results.
  • Note:  Those serving on the Leadership Succession Committee Chair or on the Leadership Succession Committee are not permitted to be on the slate of candidates for officer or committee chair positions.

RESOURCES COMMITTEE

The Resources Committee is responsible for assisting the Board of Directors in finding adequate funding for activities of the organization.

This committee consists of the following members:

Mrs E Botha

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CHAIR:*

  • Collaborate with the appropriate committee to evaluate Chapter income sources, and determine financial needs above and beyond collection of member fees.
  • Oversee the development of strategies for funding specific Chapter projects as determined by the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee the implementation of projects and events that increase funds as well as the visibility of the Chapter.
  • Manage the fund raising event and ensure that an effective publicity programme is in place, through collaboration with the appropriate committee.
  • Coordinate the donation of goods or services, if necessary, for the event.
  • Solicit the general membership for participation in hosting the event.
  • Participate in the fund raising programme, activities and events along with members of the appropriate committee.
  • After completion of the event, oversee the evaluation of the event in terms of the number of participants, amount of money raised, etc.

 PUBLICATIONS COMMITTEE

The Publications Committee oversees the development and implementation of strategies to maintain and increase the Chapter’s visibility through activities such as websites and newsletters.

This committee consists of the following self-elected members:

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CHAIR:*

  • Oversee the development and implementation of strategies that promote and maintain Chapter visibility in the community.
  • Oversee the process of development and publishing the Chapter newsletter.
  • Oversee the publication of all programme, conference and Chapter activity announcements.
  • Oversee the development of content for the Chapter display at Biennial conventions and other opportunities.
  • Confer with the Chapter web master and assist in getting information disseminated via the website.

RESEARCH COMMITTEE

The Research Committee oversees research awards and research grant criteria and applications.  The committee manages the review of abstracts and coordinates research activities of the Chapter.

The committee consists of the following members:

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CHAIR:*

  • Oversee the process for developing, reviewing and revising criteria for research awards and funding of research grants.
  • Manage the process for reviewing and evaluating abstracts for delivering of research papers/posters, research awards and proposals for research grants.
  • Identify new research projects and coordinate collaborative research proposal development.
  • Assist with the planning of Chapter research activities and conferences.
  • Manage the development of strategies for promoting the conduct of research and for the dissemination and utilization of research findings.
  • Recruit candidates for research awards at the local, regional and international level, and assist them with the application process.
  • Note: Those serving as the Research Chair, on the Research Committee or as any other Chapter officer are not eligible for research funding while in any appointed or elected position.
