Membership

How can I become a member of STTI?                                       
Potential candidates that meet the eligibility criteria are invited to
submit their completed application documents and current Curriculum Vitae to the office of the Secretariat.  You are also welcome to enquire from your local faculty councilor about joining the organization.
 
Your application will then be reviewed and once you are elected an eligible candidate, an inauguration fee of:
US$ 35 or R350 (applicable for middle income countries, Botswana and South Africa) or
US$ 30 (low income countries) must be paid into the bank account of the African Honour Society for Nurses. 

The membership fee (to be paid annually) after your induction as a member amounts to:
US$ 25 for low income countries
US$ 30 / R300 for middle income countries (South Africa & Botswana)
Induction material will then be ordered from the United States of America and sent to your sub-chapter for your induction as a member of the organization.

What are the eligibility criteria?
In order to join the Tau Lambda-at-Large Chapter a candidate must meet the
following criteria:

Undergraduate students (in Baccalaureate programme)

  • Student falls in the top 35% of the class,
  • Student has an average of 75% or higher

Post-graduate students (Honours, Masters or Doctoral programme)

  • Student falls in the top 35% of the class,
  • Student has an average of 75% or higher
  • If no marks are available a reliable and valid instrument must be used to determine scholastic achievement.

Alumni

  • An alumnus who graduated from the programmes before the chapter was launched, but would have been eligible when the above mentioned criteria were applied.

Community Nurse Leaders

  • Nurse with at least a B degree,
  • Nurses who has demonstrated marked achievement in nursing education, practice, research and publication

What are my responsibilities as a membership?

  • A member must be willing to pay the annual membership fee and the additional costs involved in activities such as attending conferences. 
  • A member should aim to attend at least one Tau Lambda-at-Large conference every five years.
  • The member must be willing to work towards the aims and objectives of the Society.

Where do I deposit my membership fee?
In order for the Secretariat to keep record of all the fees deposited into the bank account of the organization, the following information is needed:

  • Please state your name and membership number (if you have one) on the deposit slip,
  • Please ensure that you transfer the correct amount of money, i.e. distinguish between inauguration fees and annual membership fees,
    • Inauguration fees:
      • South Africa & Botswana:             US$35 or R350.00
      • Other African Countries:               US$30
    • Annual membership fees:
      • South Africa & Botswana:             US$30 or R300.00
      • Other African Countries:               US$25
